NOTD

This is from a couple of days ago, I decided to use one of the polishes that I got from the CVS 75% off sale.
Revlon Tropical Temptation

I like it, the formula was good, I believe that this was three coats with a coat of Seche Vite on top of it. Bottom line: totally worth it for 1.75.

Tron Legacy Makeup

After seeing Tron Legacy and being thoroughly disappointed by the plot line but thoroughly impressed by the makeup, costumes, and attractiveness of the cast, I decided to go ahead and try out the makeup. The two I liked the most were the makeup of the programs that he encountered when Kevin first goes into the grid, and Quorra's makeup. So I decided to try out both. Here's my results. I LOVED the program makeup in person, I couldn't stop staring at myself in the mirror. I didn't have lashes perfectly like theirs but I thought the ones I used were cool because they were reflective which added a cool effect.
The program makeup before I added lashes.

And now with lashes on.

You can still see the lash glue, whoops! I didn't wait long enough for the glue to dry before taking the picture,

Quorra's makeup.

More Quorra.

I didn't notice the mascara smudge until now...whoops.
The programs' makeup is a lot more bold and dramatic, and the movie's makeup artist Rosalina de Silva said that she wanted Quorra's to be a lot more natural and "more human." And I, of course, am partial to the crazy dramatic one!

NOTD

This NOTD is OPI Visions of Sugar Plums as a base coat, with OPI Sparkle-icious over it. I thought this was gorgeous, although it was impossible to get a not blurry picture of it.

Review and Swatches of Wet N Wild Color Icon Palettes

There has been quite a stir made by these palettes, especially because they are six eyeshadows for $5 (I got all of mine for less than that, even!). These eyeshadows are very pigmented, good quality, and there are some dupes in there for some high-end shadows, which is fantastic. Altogether, I love these palettes. One complaint I have which happens with a lot of drugstore shadows is the second you stick your brush into it the powder goes everywhere, but thankfully with these they do not apply powdery to the eye.

NOTD

I was feeling like using a dark, winter-y color, and this color was the first that jumped out at me. The one thing I hate about this polish is that it's super sheer and needed four coats and is a little runny. But I love the end color!

CVS Haul

I went to CVS to exchange the Lash Stiletto that I bought in brown for a black one. And again, I failed, only this time twice. First, I forgot the one I was going to exchange at home. Then, when I got there, I decided to buy two of them since they had the mascara at buy one get one 50% off. So I bought two and made sure that they were in blackest black.
See what's wrong yet?
I got the waterproof formula! *Facepalm*
I don't like waterproof formulas for three reasons: I don't need them to be waterproof, they tend to flake, and they're hard to remove. Ugh...but I had to open one because I needed a new mascara. So now I'm using a flaky hard to remove mascara. But CVS has a policy that you can return products if you don't like them, so next time I'm there I'm going to exchange all of my failed mascaras.

While I was there to find these, though, I found some Revlon polishes at 75% off, which came out to about $1.75 a piece. Not bad, I thought. So I got these three colors:
Revlon Cherry Berry

Revlon Pink Freeze

Revlon Tropical Temptation
I'll probably be doing some NOTD's with these soon, I'm anxious to see if I wasted my couple of dollars!

NOTD

Today I painted my nails with China Glaze Street Racing...one of the new nail polishes that I got on clearance at Ulta. I was worried that the color would look odd with my skin tone but I really like it. This is three coats, although it was opaque in two I generally add an extra one just because. The formula of the polish is a little runny, but not horrible.

NOTD

I was wearing an all-black outfit today with red accents (too bad I didn't take a picture before I changed for work) so I painted my nails fire engine red! This is a great true red.

Drugstore Haul

Since hearing all of the noise on the blogosphere about the Wet N Wild Color Icon Palettes, I have been keeping my eyes out for them. Until today, the only one I had been able to find was Pride, which I found at Walgreens (lucky, though, because it was cheaper there...somewhere around 2.50). I got fed up with searching today and decided to hit CVS, Ulta, and Jewel in search of them. I ended up finding some other things along with it, so I'm including them in this haul as well. I'll do a separate post with swatches and a review of the color icon palettes, as well as possibly doing some looks with them in the next couple of days.

First stop (which was technically about a week ago) was Walgreens where I got the first Color Icon palette, pride.

The next stop (which was actually today) was Jewel (a grocery store, if you don't have any near you). I was checking my work schedule and right near there, so I figured that I would check on the off chance that they sold Wet N Wild, which I found out a lot of retailers don't. I lucked out, and they had plenty of stock of all of the palettes, so I picked up the three I was missing. The palettes were more expensive there, Somewhere around 3.25, although I'm not 100% sure of the price. Either way, I was just happy to find them at this point and was going to take them for what I could get them for. The three other palettes were Greed, Lust, and Vanity (Can I mention how much I like the names of these palettes?)

The next stop was Ulta just to look around (I can rarely resist stopping by to check everything out when I'm driving past and have the time). I ended up finding three nail polishes on clearance that I quite liked, so expect to see them in future NOTD posts. The polishes were OPI Glow Up Already!, China Glaze Street Racing, and Nicole by OPI Nicole...Spotted! The Nicole by OPI and China Glaze polishes were on clearance for 3.99 a piece, and the OPI was 4.99.

My last stop was CVS because I had some ExtraBucks and I needed to pick up a few things that I was running low on. I got another tube of Maybelline's Lash Stiletto Voluptuous because mine is getting dry (which I'm going to have to exchange because I got the wrong color, I always get the darkest black and I accidentally picked up Brownish Black) and another bottle of Wet N Wild's Mega Liner in black because my current bottle is getting dry as well. I love both products, and have been using them for a while. Wet N Wild's liner is a trusty liner, although the brush is easy to distort, which isn't a big deal as long as you are careful. I've been using Maybelline's Lash Stiletto for a few months now and like it a lot. It doesn't give a lot of volume, it definitely lengthens the lash and gives a pretty natural look. I use it along with Smashbox's eyelash primer and Lancome's Hypnose Drama mascara. I love the three together, it's the mascara combination that I wear pretty much every day.

New Year's Resolutions and NOTD

I'm not usually one to make new year's resolutions, but this year I've decided to consistently update and keep a blog going! So here goes...my first post. A quick nails of the day post. Unfortunately, I had misplaced my camera all day (turns out my mom had cleaned my room and brought it downstairs) so the pictures are taken after a day and there's a chip on the pointer finger and some tipwear. So, sorry about that but kudos to me for the effort to post!
